Quartering
After giving up on my attempt to see two great women performers on (rainy) Thursday FQF, (Irma Thomas and Susan Cowsill) I instead met up with FQ friend and headed to Domenica at The Roosevelt for their popular Happy Hour half price pizzas and wine. A great treat to eat their excellent food, whether rainy or sunny.
I can highly recommend the Cotechino pizza (pork sausage, scallions & tomatoes.)
On Friday, made it to the festivities. I stopped to see friend Chip Wilson playing at Kerry Irish Pub; Remember, not all of the music is on the street!
Then to Jackson Square which I think is one of the best stages (besides the Royal Street stages and now I want to see the Ursuline Convent stage! Only in New Orleans…)
A local favorite, Vaucresson Crawfish Sausage poboys are still to be found at our local festivals thank you.
Once again, a truck (in violation of the law) will end up doing some damage to historic buildings.
Make Your Own Fun at FQF
Use the excellent schedule maker to select your own schedule each day for the French Quarter Festival, which has to be one of the greatest events in the U.S. to hear music while experiencing the center of our beautiful city.

Quarter Stitch
One of the longstanding needlepoint shops in the city has moved-slightly. Quarter Stitch which had withstood the Alpine Bar as a neighbor, the on again off again repairs due to a historical building owned by the state, has finally moved into new space right across the street from their old location. You can now find them on the “lake side” of Chartres between Wilkinson and the Square. The new location seems more spacious and certainly is no worse than the last as far as location, and once the gutting and constructing of Dickie Brennan’s new restaurant at Le Petit Theatre is over, things should be delightful for the wonderful yarn store we all love.

City withdraws anti-people ordinance
We appreciate Councilmember Palmer forwarding your email to us. If you have not heard, we have requested that the proposed ordinances affecting Jackson Square be withdrawn at this point. We have received significant input from constituents and appreciate your insights as well. We will take all of this under consideration as we work with the Council to revise any ordinance that affects Jackson Square and those who work, live and visit there.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
Best regards,
Scott
